Being technical is out – here's what Silicon Valley wants now...

5 years ago, if you didn’t have technical experience, your resume was almost guaranteed to be pushed to the bottom of the stack at every tech company. I vividly remember the year in college when I was rejected from every single role I applied to—thousands of positions across both big tech and startups alike. The number one piece of feedback I kept hearing? "You're not technical enough."

But times are changing fast.

Historically, a successful product has always been a combination of three key elements: great software, exceptional design, and rapid growth. The top companies excel in all three areas. However, with tools like ChatGPT being able to code entire apps in minutes, most products no longer need great software engineers to be successful. In other words, software is quickly becoming commoditized. This means that in the coming decade, billion-dollar tech companies will need to double down on delivering incredible product experiences and viral marketing strategies to stand out—both of which hinge on creativity, vision, and storytelling at their finest. And the best companies will likely prioritize hiring people who are masters of these skills because they offer something AI can never replicate.

The future of tech is human, and your creativity is its greatest asset. The stereotype of the "starving artist" will soon be a relic of the past. I’m excited to witness a future where the world is shaped by artists—writers, designers, storytellers, marketers, and tastemakers. And if you’ve ever doubted the value of your creativity, this is your sign: the world is ready for your ideas. Start creating, start sharing, and be the change-maker Silicon Valley needs.

🛠️ Build Gen She With Me

10 things I learned at the HubSpot conference that will change how I see my career forever:

1️⃣ No, AI will not replace all jobs. It’s an amplifier. It automates the mundane, but you still need human experience and creativity to build great companies. AI simply helps unlock that potential faster and more efficiently.

2️⃣ It takes 13 different touchpoints (via posts, emails, etc.) before a customer buys. Be patient, consistent, and play the long game.

3️⃣ When selling, create dopamine and build trust in your buyer, and they’ll always purchase. You can do this using the IKEA effect (making them feel like they're building it with you) and by encouraging self-disclosure (simply by asking them questions about themselves).

4️⃣ Running a community-based business is like running a hotel—it's a service business where every guest needs attention. Unless you want to run a hotel, don’t monetize your community. Instead, build a community around the product you're selling.

5️⃣ Like your own content. Engaging with your own posts may feel awkward, but it's effective for improving visibility within the audience you've already built. Also, avoid adding external links to your posts, as social platforms prioritize content that keeps users on the app.

6️⃣ Parasocial relationships create unmatched cult brands. Podcasts are the easiest for building parasocial relationships but require the most effort to get started. Short-form content (like TikTok) is the hardest to build parasocial relationships but easier to get started. Choose your challenge—there’s no shortcut to building a great brand.

7️⃣ Most AI-generated resumes are obvious to recruiters. If you want to use AI to enhance your work without it being noticeable, you need to learn how to ask AI the right questions. That’s a skill in itself—don’t underestimate it.

8️⃣ When starting out with content creation for your business; think Costco samples. Your content should be stackable, bite-size expertise of your business to bring them into your funnel.

9️⃣ agents.ai is a LinkedIn network for AI agents—yes, you heard that right. You can find an agent to research a company you're about to interview with, identify potential customers to cold email, or anything else you can imagine... because you can build your own agent using their no-code editor! AI technology that was once only accessible to big companies for task automation is now available for free, and it's searchable for everyone.

🔟 "If there were a Marsha Zuckerberg, maybe we would invest more in women." We don’t live in a meritocracy; we live in a "mirror"-tocracy. Pattern recognition of the "white male college dropout" is still the dominant way VCs make investment decisions. Women are rising, and investors who ignore this will get left behind.
