You only need 1000 fans to make six figures

To make six figures, you don’t need a massive following—just 1000 true fans. This is the essence of Kevin Kelly’s 1,000 True Fans Theory. If each of these fans spends $100 a year on something you produce, you can easily earn $100,000.

But what defines a true fan? A true fan isn't just someone who follows you on Instagram because you went viral for a trend once. A true fan feels a deep connection to you, is significantly impacted by your work, and will purchase anything you offer out of loyalty rather than logic. Building such loyalty through a 30-second video on someone's For You Page is nearly impossible. Similarly, it’s unrealistic to meet or message every follower you have in order to build that authentic 1:1 connection. That’s why long-form content—like YouTube or podcasts—is vital. It provides a scalable way to build deeper engagement than a 30-second video can, giving your audience genuine reasons to connect with and support you. Those who spend hours consuming your content are likely to become true fans.

That's why I’ve decided to start my own YouTube channel, where I'll share more personal content to help you get to know me better. I’m on a quest to find my 1000 true fans, and I think platforms like YouTube or Spotify are where I’ll find them.
